Gate automation
BM supplies installation planning and gate automation for suitable sliding and swing gates. Mechanical condition and safe movement come before motor selection.

A CONSIDERED SCOPE
Homes, shared compounds and business entrances where controlled vehicle access and reliable manual release are needed.
Your quotation should set out the assessed equipment, installation, documentation and agreed delivery terms.
01
Assess rails, hinges, stops and the opening width. Confirm operating cycles, power availability and manual release arrangements.
02
Discuss safety beams, obstruction detection, pedestrian access, remotes and intercom integration. Final compatibility is confirmed against the selected motor.
EQUIPMENT & APPROACH
Motor and controller; rack or gate arms as applicable; safety sensors; access remotes or intercom interfaces; limit controls and backup battery where supported.
Explore equipment & specification guidance ↗Inspect gate weight, travel, hinges or track, usage frequency and power supply. Agree safety devices and entry controls, install, test obstruction response and demonstrate manual release to the nominated users.
Keep the track clear, monitor unusual noise and test safety devices as instructed. Do not increase force settings to overcome a mechanically sticking gate.
THE TECHNICAL BRIEF
BM gate automation enquiries should identify the gate type and mechanical condition before selecting a motor.
| Option / application | What to assess |
|---|---|
| Sliding gate | Assess gate mass, travel, track, rollers, slope and rolling resistance. A motor cannot correct a binding or unstable gate. |
| Swing gate | Leaf geometry, hinge condition, opening angle, wind exposure and mounting geometry govern operator choice. |
| Busy entrance | Opening cycles and peak traffic determine duty requirements. A domestic operator is not automatically suitable for a busy institutional entrance. |
Discuss beams or other specified safety devices, obstruction response, pedestrian access, warning indications and manual release. Test the complete gate system and teach the owner how to isolate and release it safely.
Agree remote controls, keypad/intercom interfaces and supported access-control inputs. Battery backup has finite capacity and depends on battery condition and usage. Maintenance covers the mechanical gate as well as the motor, controls and backup supply.
Sometimes. Check the exact intercom output and operator input, isolation requirements and intended opening function. Do not assume all products with the same brand communicate directly.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE
Not without assessment. A bent gate, worn track or weak hinges may need mechanical correction before automation can be quoted responsibly.
The answer depends on the selected model and battery arrangement. Confirm backup operation and manual release in the agreed scope.
