Service scope
Assess spacing, mounting height, shading, operating hours, battery requirements and access for maintenance. Compare complete system information rather than a lamp wattage alone. Foundations, mounting and installation responsibilities should be specified before ordering.
- Lighting layout assessment
- Panel, battery and luminaire requirements
- Mounting and service access
Assessment before quotation
Share the building type, location, existing equipment and the problem or outcome required. Assessment helps define equipment, installation, testing and maintenance requirements before price and scheduling are agreed.
Equipment & system options
Solar modules, luminaires, batteries, charge control and poles or mounting assemblies matched to lighting hours and site conditions.
Maintenance & support
Check shading, cleanliness, mounting condition and changes in lighting duration. Arrange safe service access and confirm compatible battery replacements rather than selecting by appearance.
Planning questions
Does lamp wattage show how long the light will run?
Not alone. Panel, usable battery capacity, sunlight, controls and the requested operating schedule must be considered together.
THE TECHNICAL BRIEF
Lighting through the night needs an energy plan.
Solar street-light enquiries should define the area to be lit, night-time operating profile and mounting conditions rather than relying on a marketing wattage.
| Option / application | What to assess |
|---|---|
| Integrated luminaire | Panel, battery, controller and light are combined; check serviceability, shading, actual battery specification and supported dimming profile. |
| Separate panel / battery system | Allows different positioning and component choices but requires compatible charging, protected enclosures, cabling and maintenance access. |
| Pole and distribution | Assess pole/foundation design, wind exposure, mounting height and photometric coverage. A brighter-looking lamp does not prove the required ground illumination. |
Before quotation
Provide site location, road/path dimensions, required hours, shading and security conditions. Ask for the selected luminaire’s photometric and electrical information and a battery/solar energy balance.
Care and acceptance
Agree a night-time check, controls/dimming behaviour and what happens after low-sun days. Maintenance covers panel cleanliness, battery condition, fixings, cable protection and safe access.
Does the advertised lamp wattage tell me how many nights it will run?
No. Runtime depends on actual power, dimming schedule, battery usable energy, charging conditions and ageing. Confirm the exact component data and design assumptions.
Equipment references & manufacturer documentation
These references help compare systems. They do not establish BM stock, dealership, partnership or model availability. Confirm equipment, compatibility and supply terms in the quotation.
